Have A Lunch Date At Dreamland BBQ

dreamland

The next time you’re looking for a hearty, delicious lunch spot, head straight over to Dreamland BBQ for a tasty plate of their famous smoked meats!

The Story Of Dreamland

Dreamland was founded in 1958, the same year that Paul Bear Bryant started coaching at Alabama, by John Big Daddy Bishop. Legend has it that Bishop had a dream where God told him to open a cafe on the land next to his home, and Dreamland Bar-B-Que was the result of that dream. Bishop and his wife, Miss Lilly,  served their famous ribs and everything from sandwiches to postage stamps. They created a warm, welcoming environment where everyone felt like family – that atmosphere is instilled in every Dreamland location today. Now, there are 10 locations across Alabama and Georgia with more sure to come. You can also still visit the original Dreamland location in the Jerusalem Heights neighborhood and have some of Big Daddy’s famous ribs.

Grab A Plate (Or Two!)

Dreamland’s menu has expanded over the past 60-plus years, and now features so much more than their famous ribs – though you definitely have to give those a try! You can start your meal off with fried okra, cheese fries, loaded house chips, stadium nachos, a quesadilla, or hickory-smoked sausage before you move into the main BBQ plates. Speaking of which, you’re in for a treat with Dreamland’s plates! You’ll have your choice of a full slab, half, slab, half chicken, or rib sandwich to hit the spot. Each of these original favorites is cooked over a pit of hickory wood, basted with Dreamland’s famous sauce, and served hot and fresh with white bread.

In the mood to eat your meat between some bread? You can get a Big Daddy Bar-B-Que Sandwich which is an extra-large sandwich with pork, chicken, or sausage topped with BBQ sauce and pickles; a Traditional Sandwich with your choice of meat, pickles, and sauce on a toasted bun, or a Doc Style which adds a house vinaigrette or creamy coleslaw, Wickles Pickles, and Alabama Twang Sauce. You’ll also be able to choose your fixin’s between potato salad, baked beans, coleslaw, mac n’ cheese, a side salad, baked potato, fried okra, chips, or fries to complement your meal.  Dreamland also serves up tips and chips, wings, salads, desserts and wraps to help satisfy your every craving.
