Calling all bikers! Do you love hopping on a bicycle and riding with others? If so, you’ll have a blast at the Highway to Hale Bike Ride and Fundraiser. This century bicycle ride is part of the Alabama Backroads Century Series and acts as a fundraiser for the Alabama Federation of Advertising Tuscaloosa (AAFT). The ride will take place on June 9 at Moundville Archaeological Park, and it costs $50 to register. Pay your fee so you can join in the fun.
About the Ride
You will get to choose from one of four distances when you take part in this ride. If you’re new to biking, stick with the 25-mile ride that will take you out and back. You can push yourself a little harder by going in the 39- or 69-mile loop. If you’re really serious about bike riding, you need to do the 100-plus-mile ride. This route consists of a figure eight that will take you through a sizable portion of Hale County. That truly is the Highway to Hale. The route consists of moderate terrain with some hills, and you can expect to do a little climbing. That means it’s not just the distance you have to watch out for. You’ll get a workout in during this ride.
What You Get with the Ride
When you register for the ride, you don’t just get to ride your bike along a predetermined trail. You’ll also get a T-shirt, and you’ll have access to well-stocked rest stops. Those might come in handy along one of the long routes.
Plus, the organizers are going to feed you lunch. You’ll definitely want a bite to eat when you finish the ride. It’s going to take it out of you, and you will love eating with the other bikers.

About the Fundraiser
So, where will the proceeds go? As you know, this is a fundraiser for AAFT, but the organization won’t keep the money for itself. It’s going to use it to fund scholarships for advertising and marketing majors. The money will fund two separate scholarships, so you can help young people go to college.
